Other famous people born in Essex, include Terry Venables, snooker player Ronnie O'Sullivan,  chef and cook Jamie Oliver, Chelsea player Frank Lampard and snooker manager Barry Hearn.

According to Wikipedia the name Essex derives from the Kingdom of Essex or Kingdom of the East Seaxe which was traditionally founded by Aesscwine in 527 AD.

Perhaps the most surprising fact related to Essex is that Danbury Common near Chelmsford is home to the largest population of Adder snakes in the United Kingdom.
