Birmingham Probate Registry Probate

Birmingham Probate Registry

Full contact details for the Birmingham probate registry, can be found below.  Whatever your enquiry is wise to telephone first.  Although offices are open to the public, it is preferable to contact the office in advance to make sure you don't have a wasted journey.

IWC can help you with any probate related issues, from making your application for a grant to searches for genealogical purposes.

Applying for Probate

If you've been named as an executor or been appointed administrator of an estate, you'll need to apply for probate if assets total more than £5000.  An application is made to the HM Courts & Tribunals Service at your local probate office to obtain a Grant of Representation.  This document will be required by financial institutions of the deceased to enable representative's access to assets to fulfil their duties.  Once the grant has been issued, the registries role is complete.  It will then be up to executors to administer the estate and fulfil wishes of the deceased.

IWC can make the application and administer the estate on your behalf, for a low cost fixed fee. Simply call our free phone number 0800 612 6105 and our advisors will be happy to help.

Probate Disputes

Many individuals contact the registry for information about whether probate has been granted and who is has been granted to, or to obtain a copy of the will of a deceased person.  These are normally concerned beneficiaries and heirs or relatives who wish to make a claim against the estate.  Where there is a dispute, a caveat can be entered in to prevent probate being granted until issues are resolved.

Staff at the probate registry, are not qualified to offer legal advice.  IWC have a free helpline for questions related to probate, disputes, searches and inheritance tax.  Call and speak to an advisor now on 0800 612 6105, lines are open until 10pm, 7 days a week.
